Grammostola pulchripes (Chaco golden knee) Care Sheet Jamie's Tarantula Blog

The Chaco Golden Knee is now the only species I will bring with me to my presentations. This terrestrial species can be found in the wild in Paraguay and Argentina. They are very easy to keep as their heat and humidity requirements are very easy to maintain. Temperatures between 65º and 78º are ideal and humidity between 65-70% will suffice.. The Chaco golden knee tarantula is a nocturnal hunter, primarily active during the night when it seeks out prey. Its behavior is an integral part of the ecological balance in its habitat. By preying on various small arthropods, it helps control the population of these species and prevents potential overruns. The silk spun by these tarantulas.

Description and behavior. The Chaco golden knee is a large tarantula, being able to reach between 7 and 8 inches in legspan (17.8-20.3 cm). Being a terrestrial tarantula, it has a heavy body. Mature males have longer legs and smaller bodies than females, and they possess tibial hooks or apophyses to hold back a female's fangs during mating.. Formerly known as Grammostola aureostriata, Grammostola pulchripes or the Chaco golden knee tarantula is a popular beginner species. Dark in appearance with pink "hairs" and yellow striping on their knees this remarkably stunning tarantula can grow quite large for a Grammostola, I have had specimens nearly 8 inches in legspan!
